Tellington Touch foundation and philosophy
What is TTouch?
The Tellington Touch® Method —“TTouch”— is a specialized approach to the care and training of our beloved animal companions based on cooperation and respect.
Developed in 1976 by internationally recognized animal expert Linda Tellington-Jones, TTouch offers a positive approach to training, can improve performance and health, and presents solutions to common behavioral and physical problems.
TTouch helps establish a deeper rapport between humans and their animal companions through increased understanding and more effective communication. It helps increase levels of self-confidence, self-awareness and self-control. You can apply the TTouch method to assist with recovery from illness or injury, or just enhance the quality of your animal's life.
TTouch uses bodywork (TTouches) for cats, dogs and other animals, as well as groundwork exercises (the Confidence Course) for dogs.
With its roots in the Feldenkrais method of Awareness Through Movement, TTouch techniques gently guide the animal through non-habitual exercises that can alter existing habitual patterns. As posture affects behavior, many owners and caregivers note that unwanted behavior diminishes as the animals posture improves. TTouch teaches the animal to act, rather than simply react.
TTouch blends well with many other modalities and training methods. It is not necessary to adopt the whole TTouch philosophy in order to make a difference to an animal. Learning just a few of the simple body TTouches and movements can help make a difference to your animal friend’s life.
Watch Linda Tellington-Jones show you how to get in TTouch with your animal friend.
